5 Reasons to visit London during winter
1. Less crowded in London during winter
London has a population of about 8.8 million and imagine the number of people in the 1572 km² city after factoring in the tourists during the peak season. Visiting London during winter would mean that there are lesser people in tourist attractions like the museums, Stonehenge and even the shopping malls. We visited the Stonehenge and took a day trip to Bath and there were only a comfortable number of other tourists at the attractions, allowing us to take photos without a crazy crowd behind us.

2. Accommodations become cheaper
Since there are lesser tourists visiting during winter, the lower demand would drive the prices of accommodations down, saving you money for your shopping spree! More options would be available for you to choose the best location to explore London. We stayed in an Airbnb apartment which was as luxurious as a hotel.

3. Sales
When we visited London in January earlier this year, there were massive post new year sales everywhere. Things were heavily discounted as shops wanted to clear the older stocks to make way for the new stocks. We managed to get our Nespresso machine at a half the price of those sold in Singapore. YAYS! We also stocked up our winter wear at Primark to prepare for our next winter adventure.

4. Weather
Coming from Singapore, a summer-all-year-round country, the chilly weather is something we really enjoy. Besides, we get to dress up in coats and boots, a change from our usual T-shirt and flip-flop attire. The winter in London also doesn’t get unbearably cold since it rarely snows. When it does snow, it covers London in a blanket of white, a captivating sight to behold.

5. Festive Season
Early November each year, the Christmas lights are switched on and they look incredibly pretty. Watch iconic London landmarks light up in the festive season.

Immerse in the festive mood by visiting the Christmas markets all over London. They sell festive food, drinks, and handmade gifts. There are also Christmas shows, music, and events in some of the markets. After all, it’s the season to be jolly.

Brr! London sounds like fun but I do not think I have the courage to go there in Winter. Too cold for me! But, excellent points!

Hmm. Winter in London is usually quite bearable (if you don’t get caught up in the snow storm like this year). When we were there this year, the rain was more of a hassle than the cold. Nevertheless, it’s a great place to visit in winter!

I was there this month skating and fell on my behind quite a few times. I am just heeling from a sore behind hahaha. London is beautiful during the Christmas season, so much to do so little hours in a day…. totally agree….

Oh no! I hope you are okay. Skating is so much fun (minus the falls). Agree with the short daylight but thankfully their shops open slightly later than places like Norway. Was there previously and their Christmas market closed at 8:15 pm!

London looks so beautiful in the winter! Does March count for winter time in London? Or do things usually pick up then? I really would love to go to London when it is not crowded! This is an amazing post, thank you for sharing.
admin
Yes, it does! March is considered early spring in London and is probably not as crowded as compared to late spring and summer. Sounds like a good month to visit London too! Thank you for reading!
